A hard, hydrophobic layer bonded to corrected paint — gloss that holds up to road salt, gravel dust, and West Virginia sun far better than any wax.

What it does
NanoPro Ceramic bonds to the paint and cures into a hard, glossy, hydrophobic film. Water sheets off it instead of clinging. Bug residue, road film, and brake dust sit on top of the coating rather than working into the clear coat, so they rinse away with far less effort.
Wax sits on paint and wears off in weeks. A coating chemically bonds and stays measured in years. It also resists what actually degrades finishes here: UV exposure through long summers, and the chemical load of salt-treated winter roads.
What it doesn't do is make paint invincible. A coating resists chemical etching and marring; it does not stop rock chips, and it does nothing whatsoever for the undercarriage.
The non-negotiable part
A coating bonds to whatever is on the paint the moment it's applied. Apply it over swirl marks and old wax, and you've sealed those flaws under a hard layer designed to last years.
That's why at least a one-step correction, at $250, is required before any NanoPro Ceramic application here. It isn't an upsell — it's the condition that lets the shop warranty the result at all.
Choosing to skip correction: the coating loses its warranty entirely, and a $125 decontamination fee applies to strip existing wax or polish so the coating has any chance of adhering. Most customers who hear the tradeoff take the correction.

Coverage levels
The right package depends less on your vehicle than on how long you plan to keep it. Coating a car you'll trade in two years is a different calculation from coating a truck you intend to drive for a decade.
All three are backed by warranty, provided the required correction was performed and the vehicle is maintained with regular washing.
Living with a coating
Coated vehicles are easier to keep clean, not exempt from cleaning. The warranty assumes reasonable maintenance, and neglected coatings underperform regardless of what they cost.
Worth pairing
Two gaps are worth knowing about before you assume a coating handles everything:
Rock chips. A ceramic coating is measured in microns and provides no meaningful impact resistance. Liquid Protection Film on the hood and front bumper is the answer there, and pairs well with coating over the rest of the vehicle.
The undercarriage. Coating protects painted surfaces. It does nothing about road salt attacking frame rails and brake lines from underneath. That's Woolwax undercarriage protection, and in this part of the state it matters.
Full vehicle three-quarter shot outdoors after coating, in low-angle light, with sharp reflections running down the side. Dark colors show this best.

Frequently asked
NanoPro Ceramic is the coating system used for every coating package at Ceramic Works. It chemically bonds to the paint and cures into a hard, hydrophobic layer measured in years of durability. Wax sits on top of the paint as a sacrificial layer and wears off within weeks to a few months.
The 5-year package is $300, the 10-year is $500, and the lifetime coating is $700 and includes a full interior detail. All three require at least a one-step paint correction beforehand, priced at $250, which is what keeps the warranty valid and lets the coating bond properly to the paint.
The warranty backs the coating's performance and adhesion for its rated duration, on the condition that the required paint correction was performed before application and the vehicle is maintained with regular washing. Coating over uncorrected paint voids it entirely, as does neglecting basic maintenance.
For most people who keep a vehicle several years, yes — largely because of how much easier washing becomes and how much better the finish holds up to salt and UV. For someone trading the vehicle within a year or two, the 5-year package makes more sense than the lifetime, and honest advice here is to buy the level that matches your ownership plan.
Use a pH-neutral car soap and either the two-bucket hand wash method or a touchless automatic wash. Avoid brush-style automatic washes, which reinstall the swirl marks the correction just removed. Skip waxing over the coating — it adds nothing and dulls the water-beading behavior.
No. A coating adds meaningful resistance to light marring, chemical etching, and wash-induced swirling, but it is only microns thick. It will not stop rock chips, key scratches, or impact damage. For physical impact protection on the front end, Liquid Protection Film is the appropriate product.
Not directly. Anything already on the paint prevents the new coating from bonding to the clear coat, which is the entire mechanism. Existing products have to be stripped first — that's the $125 decontamination fee if you decline correction, or it's handled as part of the correction if you don't.
A coating needs cure time before it's exposed to water and road grime, and rushing that stage compromises the finished result. The exact window depends on the package and conditions, so the shop gives you a specific timeframe at drop-off. Call or text 304-923-5664 if you're planning around a trip or bad weather.
The opposite — it locks them in and can make them more visible, because the added gloss increases reflectivity and reflective surfaces show defects more clearly. This is precisely why correction is required first rather than offered as an optional extra.
Yes, and it's a good time to do it, but new does not mean defect-free. Transport, dealer prep washing, and lot storage routinely leave swirl marks before the first owner takes delivery. New vehicles typically still need at least a one-step correction — usually the lightest one, since there's less to remove.
Every coating starts with correction, and every quote starts with photos. Send a few in good light and find out what your paint actually needs.
